Tom Hart Dyke


Tom Hart Dyke was kidnapped in 2000 and held captive for 9 months in the Darien Gap, on the Panama/Colombia border. When he returned home to the UK, he decided to build the garden he designed durin ghis captivity. Tom’s ‘World Garden’ became famous the world over, and his story continued to excite the media for a decade.

Press Contact/ Vikki Rimmer, managed Tom’s national and international publicity campaign from 2005-2008. Vikki amassed hundreds of cuttings for Tom and won PRWeek’s prestigious ‘Freelance Achievement’ Award 2007 for her work with Tom. Her work was also shortlisted and commended by Xchangeteam.

Vikki worked alongside Tom during his two BBC2 series; ’Save Lullingstone Castle’ and ‘Return To Lullingstone Castle’. Vikki also raised the sponsorship for the launch of The World Garden, organised the opening event and arranged numerous press days at Lullingstone. Vikki also worked alongside Transworld on the photography and PR for the launch of Tom’s book ‘An Englishman’s Home’ (Transworld).
